AKAROA. This Akaroa Borough Council mot on Wednesday. Present—The Mayor (Mr Geo. Annstrong), " Crs, C. Yv, Iycetc, W. W. Williams, C. Stewart, W. Pool, H. J. Barnham, A. J. Faithiuil and C. S. Panjiam. Leave of absence was granted to Crs. Maseflcld. and Pilkington. Cr. Stewart moved: "That tho Council proceed to raiso a loan, of £2900; threo issues to bo put to tlie ratepayers, viz., (1) Laying G inch mains from reservoir to Hammonds corner, £1700; (2) Procuring and ntting water meters :n houses, £650; (3) Preparing new municipal tonnig courts, £550. The loan to bo lor a term of 20 years. Interest not to exceed 6 per oent. per annum, and sinking fund 2 por cent, per annum." The motion, was seconded, by Cr. Faithfull and carried.

Tha Hospital Board, in acknowleugmg receipt of tno Council's claim fcr rates on the old hospital in Aiaroa, pointed out that it disclaimed responsibility, inasmuch as the building had been usod as ft public hospital up till the date cf the opening othe new institution in June last, and that, to all 111 tents and purposes, it was still regarded as ft hospital building.
