Personal. Mr. J. G-arrard returned from Wellington yesterday morning. Mr J. Flood, secretary of the Lyttelton Waterside Workers' Union, arrived from Wellington yesterday. Y.W.C.A. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Y.W.C.A. was .ield on Tuesday afternoon. The secretary reported that Miss Lucy Cowan had offered the h«lp of some of her pupils at the physical display on August 26th. It was decided. to postpone the. Flower Day until , the" first Friday in September. The annual meeting of the Association was fixed for* September lßth. Magistrate's Court. Befora Mr W. T.. Lester and Mr F. Knights, J.P.'s, at the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court yesterday, William A. Miller, a shipwright, was charged under the Arms Act with failing to register two double-bar-relled shotguns. Defendant, - .vho was absent, sens tn.a. written statement to the effect that on July 30th last he called at the Police Station to register the gTins, : which he had accidentally discovered while searching a store-room for some other articles. The xruns were the property of his father, who died in 1320, but defendant was not aware that the guns were in the -bouse. Serjeant J. W. MclJolm said that "ie statement made by defendant was correct. The Bench, under the circumstances, convicted the defendant and discharged him, with Court 'costs. - ■ •■ ■'■
