The position in respect-of employment for returned soldiers is expected to be easier next week, Mr W. E. Leadley, secretary of the 8.5.A., informed a reporter yesterday. The B.S.A. has voted £IOO each to the City Council and to the Waimakariri Biver Trust in respect of work for returned soldiers, and these amounts the bodies mentioned will subsidise pound for pound. In the event of the Ueathcote County Council making arrangements for work on the Dyer's Pass road there will be £SOO available, ' or a, total of close, upon £looo* Enquiries made at the Public Works Department and from the clerk of the Count/ Council showed that authority for the work on Dyer's Pass.road has not been received yet. Mr Leadle* stated that the B.S.A, had been able to place a, few men in private employment during the past week.
