Japanese holiday-makers at the coast town of Hojo and Tateyfcma were alarmed by ft severe earthquake which, however, did no damage. Timber workers at the metal manufacturers' works at Port Kembla, ceased work because a request for an additional shilling a day was refused. Approximately 900 men are thrown out of work and all employees were to be paid off yesterday. Cairo reports that an investigation into the recent attempt on Zaghlul Pasha's life led to thedison-eryjf a plot to restore the ex-Khedive Abbas Hflmi. Many arrests were effected, including a Turkish field-marshal. The trouble at the Hoskira (New South Wales) coke works has been settied and work will be resumed immediately.
