WAIMAKARIRI SCHEME.
CITY COUNCIL AND THE GOVERNMENT. ••Is anything to be done concerning the WaimakariH scheme," asked Cr. J. K. Archer at the meeting of the City Council last night, "seeing that the matter has been discussed in Wellington again t" . - The Mayor: There is really nothing tangible to mention just *yet. Cr. A. W. Beaven put in the following notice of motion for next meeting:— "That this Council appoints a deputation representing the city of Christchurch to proceed to Wellington to press on the Government the urgent necessity of pishing on the duplication of the Lake Coleridge electric installation by increasing its staff there as much -las.', possible, so that everything possible shall be done to have it ready by May, 1926. At the same time the deputation to obtain from the Government; the best terms for a renewal contract for the supply of current for Christchurch. The deputation to consist o£ Messrs A. McKellar, H, T. Armsteongi M.P., L. M. Isitt, HP., W. Machin, and J. H. Blaekwell.
