MAJOR H. BARR. D.S.O. (PESSS ASSOCIATION TBLXGBAH.) NELSON, August 11. The death is announced of Major H. Barr, D.S.O. Deceased came to New Zealand for health reasons after loiig war strain, commencing with ftvo Marine Artillery in the original British expeditionary foroe. He was the only surviving""son of Captain F. f. Barr, R.N., of Ems worth, Hants. He leases a widow and three young children in Nelson.. Much regret was expressed in Timaru yesterday when it became known that Mr W. J. Huggins, Timaru manager for Charles Begg and Co., had died suddenly. Mr Hugging was fonnd dead in his office at about 5.30 on Saturday afternoon. The deceased gentleman was born at Ipswich, Suffolk, England, and went, as a lad, to America. From there he came to Nfew Zealand, and thirtynine years ago, when Begg and Co.' decided to open a Timaru branch, Mr Hug£ins was appointed maniger. "He held that position up till the time of his death. He took little part in public affairs, being a man of quiet and reserved disposition. He was greatly interested in photography, electricity and wireless, and established the first wireless set in Timaru. Mr Huggins is survived by MrS Hoggins and a grown-up family of three sons and one daughter; Mr Erneßt Albert Borrow, whbse death occurred in Dunedin last -tffeek, waa a young Dunedin musician of high promise, well khown in the musical afcd friendly society circles here. He was born 32 years ago, the son of Mr Thbmaß Borrow, (photographer for many yeard with A. H. Burton), and wks educated at George street School. Early in life he displayed a love and an aptitude for riiusic, and studied the organ, the piano, and singing. As a boy he sang in AH Saints' Choir, Dunedm, and remained a member until appointed organist at St. Matthew's in succession to the late Mr Sidney Wolf. He was organist to-the Masonic and»Druids' Lodges, also a member and librarian of the 'Dunedin Choral Society. He served with the New Zealand Bifle Brigade in France. «
