The remits for consideration at the annual meeting of this Dominion of New Zealand Bowling Association, to be held on tember 10th, in Wellington, were then discussed. Thb remits wexe as follows: Wellington Centre—That the one and only test for the Dominion should be the table test. Mr Barnett said that he saw nothing in tho remits that could not bo left to the discretion of the delegates. The remits regarding bowl-testing wefe the most important, and the delegates would be in a better position to come to a Conclusion on :t after having .heard the arguments. Mr' Comlle su?eest£d thht tlw South Island delegates should be invited, when passing through Christolii'inh, to witness o trial of testing nt the indoor rink. A delegate .remarked that, provided the weather conditions were suitable, a test on the green would be best; another delegate considered that the green {est was »A absolute farce, and gave an instance of a boiler, whose bowls wer© notoriously narrow, haying his bowls tested during a nor'wester, when they drew all- riefht. It waß decided to leave the remits to the discretion of the Centre's delegates.

Mr Barnett said that the Dominion Touriwjment was getting too cumbersome and -teas attended oiily by local players during tho. lfist week. He moved: "That a remit be forwarded, ar.d bo supported by thd Centre's delegates, that for tho coming y6ar the tournament consist of singles and rinks, the singles to be completed before tho rinks are started." The singles should be played, he" said, io find the Dominion's .•tampion player, and the rinks to find tho Dominion's champion club. The motion was seconded. Mr Colville, in opposing it, said thau in cutting out the pairs they would bo defying the opinion of the miljotity of the bowlers of the. Dominion: next to the rinks, tiie pairs was one of the most popular competitions ' they had. He gavo the _ following summarised result of a questionnaire sent out by the Dominion Council in 1921: In favour- of three competitions, Sl4; in favour of rinke, 137; in favour of rinka and pairs, 27; in favour of (singled ftnd rinfcs, 13. To send forward a proposal for singles and rinks would make _ the Centra ridiculous. .The singles and p&ita could bo finished in one week. .Mr Barnett: Absolutely impossible. Mr Colville: If wo had anything like a fair spin as far as the weather is concerned it could be done. . Mr Cbeewin B»id he waa in. favour of pairs being played. There might be some way of-playing the pairs, with three bowls it would save time and be a better jptißfi* A delegate remarked that he was quite #ure that the majority of the younger playore Was in favour of pairs.
