WELLINGTON TROTTING CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. In the annual report of the, Wellington Trolling Club, tho stewards congratulate members on tbo termination, of a, very successful year. Increases were shown on practically all tbo items / covering the club's sources of revenue—tho inot marked being ail increase of £lB3 10s, in nominations and acceptances. Despite tho fact that rain in tho morning must have deterred many from journeying to the Hult Park, the attendance at tho club b annual raco day was wfell up to tho previous year, and a. lini day's sport was enjoyed by all proSont. Tho totalisator recorded an increase ou tho previous year. The club started {no year with a. credit balance of £2244 Ts 7d, and concluded -with, a crcdii balance of £l@4S 163 Id. Permanent improvements, however, accounted for an expenditure of £BOS 17s lid, and to this may bo added £146 8s 10a expended on the track aiid ground, showing the club to bo in a, stronger financial position than has ret been recorded. A3 in previous years, the Government i>rnoiftcd far more thali tho club from tho year's operations—the sum of £IB4O 7s Id- having boon handed over in taxation on tho ono uay of racing. "Relief in this matter 'has 'Seen promised lor so' long," added the report, "that it cannot, now be inuch further delayed, and we look forward to the Government doing tho right thing so that we may bo «nahj J to meet the increasing calls for the public convenience and comfort by way of improvements and extensions in our several appointments." Realising that membors deserve moro consideration than has been possible to give in . the past, the stewards have decided to erect a special members' stand attached to the present stewards' stand, and plans for this work, which will be proceeded with at onco, are now under consideration. T'ae stewards rfcgtet that another annual report has to be submitted without anything definite being forthcoming regarding extra racing days. A • Gaming Bill has, however, been introduced, and although obstruction has already made itself unpleasantly manifest a certain quarter, it ia to bo. hoped that members of Parliament will recognise, as sportsmen, tha grave injustice under which this club, in common, with others, is struggling; and will provide tie extra days necessary for tha development of the sport of tr'.-tting to keep pace with public requirements. JOCKEYS' FOOTBALL MATCH. A criiwd of about 3000 people witnessed the annual football match between the Isonh and South Island representative jockeys' teams yesterday. Pl&y from start to finish was fast and furious, the tackling being especially deadly. Though not Particularly noticeable for high-cla«a football, the game was aa interesting and ps keenly contested as any match played l between the two teams. W. J. Bowden and L. G. Morris played well for the Northernerii, while for the South Island, K. G. B-eed and G. Piuthvcn ware the b«flt. The jame resulted in a win for North by 8 points to 6. For the -\orth, L. G-.
