RIFLE SHOOTING.

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting o£ th Canterbury llifle Association was held on Saturday evening. M'ajor J. P. Oaies, the president, occupied the chair, and the following delegates were present:—A. Pevorill (W.M. Club), 11. Harris (Christchuroh D.R.C.), F. CaHer and P Hill (Timaru D.R.C.), P. Jack arid V>. Johnston (Railway D.R.C.) A. C. HttNett end J. Hinea (Sumner-Redcliffs), D. 8. ws and C. Butters (Rangiora, D.R.C.), J. Bryden and W. J. Honey (Kaiapoi D.R.C.), G. Evans (Ashbcrton), and the secretary, R. H. Neill. , , The report and balance-sheet, which wero adopted, showed the Association to be in a good financial position, after having had a, most successful prize meeting. . It was unanimously decided io ho'd the Canterbury Rifle Championships at RedcliSs lUnge on Thursday and Friday, Jannary Ist and 2nd, 1925. A good d*il of discussion tock place on the d*ys Allotted to rifle clubs at Redcliffs during the coming season, and it was decided to send a deputartioh to the Defence Department regarding) this matter.

The matter &f an inter-club competition for a challenge shield during the 1924-25 season was left in the hands of a special committee, composed of one from each of the tiffiiated c'liiba, to take place in the course of tho next few weeks. A hearty welcoai© was extended to iho delegates from the r.ewly-formad Railway Defence Club, which has become affiliated to tho Canterbury Association. It was reported that in addition to tho present largo number of clubs in Canterbury, new clubs wero forming' in Kirwes, Amberley, and Culvorden.
