PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

OPENED AT STYX. Tho new Presbyterian Church, situated at the corner of Daniel's road and North road, Styx, was opened on Saturday afternoon. The Rev. J. B. Bickerstaft', who will have charge of tho presided, and with him on the platform tvero the Rev. W. Tanner, moderator, tho Rev. Mr Munro and the Hon. D. Btlddo, M.P., who porfornsed tho opening ceremony. Mr Buddo, in opening tho church, •which, is a very neat and compactly built wooden building, said that pleasure overwhelmed him at seeing silch a large gathering of Presbyterian church people in their new church and ho expressed tho oninion that it would grow as the City" of Christchurch had grown. Mr R. Shaw, who had charge of the collecting of moneys with which to help build the church, thanked the people for the splendid way in which ther had contributed towards the funds. The total cost of the building was £356, but £126 of that amount had been raised, and it was hoped that the balance of tho debt would be liquidated in tho noar future. He congfatulated the contractor, Mr R.-. A. Patrick, ution the excellent manner iu which he had completed his work. The service was opened and closed with the singing of a hymn, and a hymn was also sung during the oiffertofv which will go towards the liquid-ating-of the debt on the church.
