meeting of society. (PHX33* ASSOCIATION TH,XC®AM.) - WELLINGTON, July 17. The first annual meeting of tho Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, was held to-day. Foi-ty members, from all parts of the Dominion-) Were 'present.' Mr W. Perry; president, was in the chair. , T'he Governor-General (Viscount Jellicoo) a.nd tho Prime Minister (Mr W. F. Massey) . were elected life members. -. .. • ■ • •. ~' The president >ud that support had been promised and the general outlook was most satisfactory. The Council of Agriculture, on the previous day, had agreed to handover its functions and assets to the society, and the various breed societies had given to the Royal Society cups valued at £336 and. casli to the extent of £4OB. If it had 3000 financial members; the society would be" able to do a great work in increasing the value of the various district shows. in both islands. ' ■ - The election of officers resulted President, Mr W. - Pern'; vice-presi-dents Messrs J. A. Nash (Manawatu) and : il. M. Morten (Christchiirch); auditor, Mr S. Lambert. . _ _ It' was resolved- that the position of Director-General of the'-Royal- Agricultural Society •of New Zealand bo ■ created and that he be appointed by the council annually.
