Granjeat and his wife, who had just retired i'rom a wine business at Genevilliers, might have been happy ever aitorwafds. But the wife, aged 20, was a> confirmed snuff-taker. Her husband corstiuitly reproached • her with that, and words led to missiles. Then Madame produced a revolver and &hot her husband dead. Through tho wonderfid ways of French juries, Madame was found not guilty of murder, but she was, sentenced to two years' imprisonment "for blows and injuries not causing death."
