PREFERENCE DEBATE.

DUE THIS WEEK. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, June 15. Sunday papers give prominence to the Preference debate to be held in the .liouee of Commons this week, speculating on the fate of the resolutions. The "Sunday Times" declares that Parliament ought to debate and settle the question solely in reference to the reaction of an adverse vote upon Imperial feeling and opinion. The main point is whether the Empire and its affairs are to be made the sport of British party politics. The "Observer" says that Labour has its chance to improve on the cheap catchwords and irrelevant issues raised by the conventional controversy between tariffs and Freetrade. The Empire's trade itself is at stake.
