PAPANUI LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Papanui Public Library Committee was held m the Library laat ween, when Mr Ciia'.iieid presided over a lull attendance. J.t was decided that a deputation, consisting of Mrs Hull, and Mossrs Chatficld, ju.cyand jionroe, De appointed tu wmt on the Mayor on Friday next. The secretary reported that eince the last meeting of the Library Committee ho had attended two meetings of the Library and Town ilrll .Building Management Committee. At the last. meeting it had been decided that the Library was to pay £l3 a year for two nights weekly, or JEJLH lor three nights, aa' the Library's ehare for electric light and caretaking. Mr Chatficld and himself dissented. It was decided that, in the opinion of the Library Committee, the charge wag ex' cesJve, and to recommend that a aub-com-mittee, consisting of two members of the Library, two of the Buildings Management Committee, and another gentleman, chosen by unanimous vote of the other four, be set up to enquire into what would be a fair and reasonable charge, and that their decision be referred back to tho two committees for reconsideration. Mr Sflllivan's lcßignation as iy member of tlie committee waa received with regret, and Mr W. A. Wil3on was elected in hia place.
