TELEGRAPHIC DELAYS.
COMPLAINT IN AUSTRALIA

Strong complaints are made by the newspapers regarding protracted delays in the sending of Press messages, particularly in the southern States and West Australia. For instance Mr Bruce's speech, at Perth, took ten hours to come East. The telegraphic management attributes the delay to line congestion and unavoidable interruptions. The "I>aily Telegraph" comments that there can be no doubt as to the deficiency of a service, which cannot cope within a reasonable margin with additional Press messages. Delays on land lines are also badly interfering with the delivery of international "able*.
