AKAROA-WAINUI ROAD BOARD.
At the monthly meeting o{ the Akaroar ■\Vainui Uosrd" Board, thero were presentr— Messrs It. ' A. Mould (chairman), S. J. Vopan, W. 11. Moore, Jos. Hayward, and" A. K. Haylock. Tho tender of h. .J. Shad bolt, of £153, for Contract 13, 474 chains, Ston V Bay toad, was accepted. Mccsib A. 1). il-acdonald, L. C. Hopktna, and C K. Mulooci wrote asking for the metalling of it portion of tho Junilco road. Ii was rcaolvcd to carry on the improvements as lemiesied. The Akaroa County Council wrote draw* ivio- attoat'.oh to a. damaged culvert at ttie loot of the Okaiu's Bay road, near .Duvauchelle. cemetery. Instructions were given to have repairs carried out forthwith. ° Tho Akaroa executive wrote asking for tt "rant in aid of expenses of entertaining tho odicers and crew of tho Chatham during her stay in the harbour. On the motion of Mr Vogan. JJIU was voted. ' Tho financial report showed:—Receipts jK!6I 6s 31d, accounts presented .£l2B Ss 3d, dr. balance £OIO 9s 7d, loan account cr. £:>l7 5s Id, accounts presented on loan account £lii 189 fid. It vva3 reported that .£1728 in rates wiuj still outstanding. On the ctiairniau s motion, it was decided to impose 10,. per cent, pcralty on overdue rates. In iirifw-er to Mr Vogan, tho clerk eaid no it-ply hid been received from tho Akaroa JixpreM Motor Lorry Company regarding tho cartage ot pipes. . The chairman remarked tliat the .Board would employ Mr O. Moitait to cart tho pipes at the Express Company's expense. TVlr Vf/gfan rtnorled that the washout on the Old Pigeon Bay road had been repaired. Thxi men working there had £ono cn to Ifoiiinson's Bay to carry out needed repairs aiul to put blinding on where ro quired. They had also cleaned out the culverts on the new Pigeon Bay road. In reference to a complaint from the men that the ranger had impounded their horses while they themselves were at work on the rcad-s, it wa3 resolved that the men be given rx-.rmisoion' to graze their horses on the readsides while so employed.
