OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Christ church High School Old Boys' Association was held last evening, Mr 11. II Ilanna presiding over a large' attend-

ance. The annual report stated that the social rooms had been well patronised during tho past year. During the year seventy-nine new members were elected and eighteen resignations we're received. At a special meeting supporters of the Association, other than old boys, were permitted to become associate members, but the number is not to exceed twenty at one time. The total membership now was S6l. The annual reunion was again held at the Art Gallery 011 the night of the School v. College match, but owing to influenza and the uncertainty of the date of the match, the sttendancc was only about 150. Nothing but praise was heard regarding the Old Boys' annual ball in the Winter Gardens on the night of August Ist. Altogether, about 200 people attended, the number of old boys present being the cause of much favourable comment. As shown by the profit and loss account, a small profit was made. The football season opened with much enthusiasm, but it soon began to wane. Tho club's congratulations were extended to the following who obtained representative honours: J. H. Parker (New Zealand and Canterbury) and J. Harris, S. Carleton and J. Burrows (Canterbury). The enthusiasm of the athletic section of the Association was very low, and unless the athletes banded together and did something, tho Athletic Club must go out of existence. A meeting would probably be called in the near future. The Wellington Association was by no means dead; for they recently reunion that would have been a crecTit to anyone. Mr Lancaster and one of the Christcliurch committee were present and the whole evening was a pronounced success. The Auckland branch was not so successful but was still holding together, and probably more success would be achieved in the near future. The profit and loss account showed a net profit for the year of £3 8s sd. The chairman said that the social rooms had been in operation for a full twelve months, and had quite justified their opening. They gave promise of better things for the coming year. The credit balance would have been larger but for the fact that a burglary had occurred in the rooms during the year. The report was adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr G. J. Lancaster; president, Mr H. M. Taylor; vice-presidents, Messrs D. Redpath. A. E. Byrne, and Dr. W. S. Seed; committee, Messrs N. Down, E. Taylor. A. Thompson. A. Hollander, C. E. (3uiney, T. \V. Reese, J. T. Burrows, F. T. Clark, S. Hollander, and T. Milliken (representing the Auckland branch): auditor, Mr R. L. Hicks; editors Old Boys' section of magazine, Messrs A. D. Tench and J. O. P. Watt; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. P. Tabley. On the motion of Mr Tench, it was decided to place on record the association's appreciation of those cemb<irs who had been instrumental in opening the club rooms. Mr J. R. Cuningham outlined the position with regard to the new school at present undergoing course of construction. He stated that the columns which had for so long adorned the front of the old building had been transferred to the new grounds, and would be placed in front of tho new school with a tablet on them stating how they had first been hewed from 't.fs foot of Cashmere Hills, and the very early date at which they had been placed in front of the old school.
