CHUNUK BAIR MEMORIAL COMPLETED. (special to "thi press.") WELLINGTON, March 5. Ivecently the High Commissioner forwarder an extract from a letter receTveu frcm I4eut.-Colonel Hughes, Imperial' War Graves Commission, director of works on GailipoH, regarding the New Zealand battJeueM memorial on Ohunuk Bair, where the New Zeaknuers fought so gloriously in the August advance. Colonel Hughes writes: "The monument is now completed with the exception or the inscrf*p!jioh, which is now being put on it. It looks very well, and can be seen from the Dardanelles and on a clear daj from ships coming into tlie entrance at ilelles. We bare had extraordinary baa weather, but all the work has stood up well, 'l he local situation is quiet. Our flags are all flying, and 1 think are among the very few in Turkey that are allowed to. As a matter of fact", we have established quite good relationship with the local officials." Colonel riuglifcs, ;n conclusion, asks what th's New Zealand Government intends to <lo in regard to the unveiling ceremony in connexion with the memorial.
In regard to this Sir Ileaton Rhodes, Minister of Defence, states that Genoral Sir Andrew Russell and General Sir E. VV. Chaytor will be in England shortly, and possibly it may be arranged for them to go to (ia.'lipoli and conduct the ceremonial.
