NURSE SHOT.

While Nurse Elsie Newton, with William Gray, was on the way to church at Maryborough last evening, they noticed that they were followed by a man, Henry Fahl, who plater addressed Nurse Newton, telling her that he desired a few words with her.

Gray stepped aside and then, without warning, Fahl drew a revolver and fired two shots, one striking Nurso JNewton in the right eye and the other knocking out three of her teeth. A letter found in Fahl's pocket addressed "To whom it may concern," gave the motive for his action and stated that he w«s perfectly sane. Fahl was a married man with three children.
