HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS IN BRIBES. (BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION COrTBIGnT. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATE.; (Received March 3rd. 5.30 p.m.) NEW YORK. March 2. The Washington correspondent of the "Chicago Tribune" say* that the Senatorial oil and kindred investigations will now disclose the existence of corruption that will shake the country. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes were collected by a special group from persons seeking appointments to office, clemency for prisoners, settlement of income-tax cases, and immunity from prosecution for violation of the Prohibition and other laws.
