ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS.

CHRISTCHURCH SOCIETY. The eleventh annual.meeting of the Christchurch Accountant Students' Society wa» I held in the Cunstchurch b'tock Exchange ! K«>ni last evening. The president. Queree was ejected treasurer at the last annual meeting and previously had been a prominent and capable member of the .Debating learn. The late Mr A. L. Nicholson was one of the Society's most enthusiastic members and a past oiiice-bearcr. Mention was made of the fact that he had missed attending only one meeting during his live years' membership. Thanks were accorded the eleven gentlemen who had given lectures throughout the session, to the local branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants for a donation towards the general iuud and for the use of their library, to Mr H. S. Cordory, Mr H. T. Whitungham, and the proprietors of "Accounting, Commerce and Insurance" . ior their prizes for competitions heid, and to the daily Press, "Accountants' Journal," •'Accounting, Commerce and Insurance," and "Mercantile Gazette" for giving such full reports ot the various meetings. The number of qualified accountants and students on the roll was 151, and 27 of the latter were successful in passing sections of the recent accountancy examinations. The annual accounts showed the finances to be in a very good condition' and every subscription for the year had been paid. . In moving the adoption of the annual , report and accounts, .the president congratulated members on the great interest which had been displayed and maintained , throughout the nessicn. _ The motion was unanimously earned.
