ESTATE OF A. N. SILCOCK,

A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Allan Nelson Siloock, electrician, was held in the office of the official assignee, at Ashburton, yesterday morning. Mr TV. H. Woods appeared for the debtor. The financial statement showed that debtor had a credit balance of £756 6s Bd, and a, debit of £lll7 19s lid, leaving a deficiency of £361 13s 3d. The secured creditor was the Repatriation Department, Wellington, to the amount of £279 Is 4d. Unsecured dobts amounted to £948 18a 7d, including Niven and Co., Ltd., £199 13s 3d, A. and T. Burt, Ltd , £153 Os lid, Ballinger Bros., Christchurch, £lls 5s 9d; L. Dyhrberg, £39 Es; A. Carroll £SO; Carrick, Wedderspoon and Co £44 7s 9d; Bullock and Co., £37 3s 6d; Mrß F. T. Swain, £33; Standard Import Co., £35 3b id; Beal, Pritchell and Co., £37 Us 8d- Electrio Supply Co., £2B 9s 6d. There waß also a dependency claim from Chas. Davidson, the amount being £175 Bs. This ie in dispute. Tho debtor in his statement attributed his position largely to taking on contracts and his health, which was not always good. _ .-,.,... The deputy official assignee said that the premises had just been closed, but the debtor had been in charge, and had kept the premises often for a fortnight, during which time he had worked in the interests of the creditors. The books of the firm had been kept by an accountant, in whoso hands they were at the present time. Tho accountant, Mr Brown, would hand the books over when he had been paid for his work. It was decided that Mr Brown be paid for his work, and that the booka be taken over from him. On the motion of Mr W. Page, seconded by Mr A. Carroll, it was de. cided to pay the debtor £lO for his time in keeping tile premises open, and for his work in the interests of the creditors. The deputy official assignee was authorised to realise on the stock and to wind up the estate.

CABINET-MAKER'S FAILURE. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of "William Henry Alsweiler, cabinetmaker, Ashburton, was held at the office of the deputy official assignee, Mr J. B. Christian, at Ashburton, yesterday afternoon. Mr "W. H. Woodß appeared for the debtor. The amount owing to -unsecured creditors was £305 14s Bd. The asßeta totalled £203 9s 7d, leaving a deficiency of £97 6s Id. The creditors are as -under:—L. 8. White, Ltd.. Christchurch, £4 10s; T. Wilson, Christchurch, £1 7s. Debtor, who started in business twelve months ago, attributed his position to being unable to compete with firms that handled machine-made goods, and to the fact that he was practically a atranger to the town, and could not command a reasonable share, of patronage. The deputy official assignee suggested that the debtor be allowed £5 per week while he was completing a. High School contract, which he had taken. The position of the debtor had been such that had it not been for the help of friends he and his family would have been without food. It was decided to pay th e ' debtor £6 a week for an extra week's work on the contract.
