DANCE AT AMBERLEY.

A very enjoyable dance WE3 given j last week in the Parish Hall, Amberlev, by Mr and Mrs J. McDonald, in honour of their daughter, Mona. The hall was very prettily decorated with red, yellow, and black streamers, with bunches of balloons suspended from the ceiling. Danoe music was supplied by Mr C. Wells, and extras were played by Miss Rhodes, Miss R. Busch, and Miss P. Manning. The duties of Master of Ceremonies were very successfully carried out bv Mr K. Sloper. A dainty supper was served in the anteroom adjoining the hall. Amongst those present were :—Mrs McDonald, who wore a dress of vieux rose charmeuse with Oriental trimming; Miss McDonald, sea green crepe de cheno with touches of polo: Mrs Kennedy, Mrs Wornall, Mrs Moles, Mrs Sloper, Mrs Kidd, Mrs A. WEDDINGS.

HODGSON—TAYLOR. Tlio little Itaithby Church was the scene of a pretty wedding recently, when Barbara, fourth daugnter of Air T. Hodgson, Loburn, was married t 0 Mr Garth Taylor, of Christchurch. The Ilev. A. N. Scotter was the officiating minister, and Miss A. LilJy, of Christchurch, presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her brother, wore a, dainty gown of ivory georgette, beaded in crystal and mounted on ivory satin charmeuse. The veil was worn coronet style, with the usual sprays of orange blossom, and a shower bouquet of cream and apple pi*'- 1 ' Cowers and fern was carried. The two bridesmaids were Miss Mabel Large, who wore palest green georgette and a large hat trimmed with apricot, and Miss Sara Hodgson, sister of the bride, who wore rose pink satin and a shady white hat. Both carried bouquets of roses and carnations to tone with their frocks. Mr W. Hewitt, of Temuia, was best man.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at Done Hollow, the residence of the bride's parents. Mrs Hodgson, who received the guests, wore a smart dove-grey costume and a black hat. She carried a bouquet of scarlet sweet peas. Mrs Taylor, mother of the bridegroom, worq a grey tailored costume and hat to tone. Her bouquet was of crimson flowers and gypsophila. When the happy couple left later for the wedding tour, the bride was wearing a smart costume of navy gabardine and a chic hat of navy silk, trimmed with a wreath of multi-colour-ed flowers.
