THE DENTAL SCHOOL.
TO THE EDITOR OP "THE PEESS." Sir, —With reference to the question of a dental school in Auckland. To my mind, the dental school is in the right place and should 'not be duplicated i,u this small country for at least twenty years.. It must be worked' along with the medical school, and the latter would be ruined with duplicyvtion. There must be some other way of increasing the facilities for practical work without duplicating the school. The first three years' or more are devoted to purely scientifio work and entail hard work and close application. This would not be possible in a climate like that of Auckland. As far as New Zealand is concerned, some years ago a scientifio investigation showed that only in Otago was the maximum of mental and physical work possible; effort of high degree wag possible in Canterbury, but the North Island was put very low! Yours, etc., T. A. MacGIBBON, M.D. Christchurch, January 31st, 1924.
