The Earl "of ' Cassillis,' heir of the Marquis of Ailsa, the descendant oT a famous line of Scottish chieftains, and one of tbe world's leading Freemasons', has come to New Zealand solely in the interests of Scottish Royal Ai'ch Masonry. It is his intention to visit as many of the lodges of the Chapter as is possible in the time at his disposal. . , He will remain in . New Zealand about ten days, and on his return to New South Wales will spend about three weeks there visiting th«? various lodges of the Chapter. Afterwards he will proceed to Queensland and later will return to Scotland via. Japan and the United States, visiting lodges at Hons Kong and Shanghai en route. The Countess of Cassillis. who will accompany her husband on part of his tour in New Zealand, is the daughter of Sir Mark McTaggarfc Stuart. During the war she 6erved as a nurse in France, and holds four long service stripes. . ' The Earl of Cassillis. leaves for Dunedin by the Maori this evening. (paESS ASSOCIATION TZLEGEAIt.) WELLINGTON, January 29. An occasion unique in the history of New Zealand, is the visit of the Earl ofCassillis to the Dominion. He is First Grand Principal, Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland, and is visiting District Grand Chapter of New Zealand to install Most Excellent Companion Ellery, of Gisborne. The ceremony will take- place at Dunedin, and while there his -Lordship will consecrate' the new Chapter called Kilwinning, Peninsula No. 573. He then hopes, he states, to see eonie New Zealand scenery,, and visits Christchurch and other "Chapters. He had been doing similar work in Australia where they gave him a cordial welcome, entertaining Lord Leverfmlme and himself in Victoria. He would have to leave New Zealand on February loth.
