RIVAL BAND ASSOCIATIONS.
ATTEMPT AT RECONCILIATION An effort is to be made to reconcile the differences between the North Island and the South Island Bands' Assor ciations, and a conference of representatives of both Associations is to meet in Wellington to-day. Hitherto both Associations have operated independently and not altogether in the spirit of mutual goodwill. Each promoted a New Zealand band contest and the dates in the same year' always clashed. Next month a big band contest -will be held in C!hrisj;chiirch contemporaneous with a North Island band content in Palmerston Nqrth. The idea now is that harmony should be restored arid that the two Associations should combine tp organise on<e New Zealand -contest each year to he held in the North Island and South Island alternately.
