JAPANESE" TTELD-MABSHAL. (BY CABLE-—PRESS ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT.) (beuteb's telegrams.) TOKYO, January 27. The death is announced of FieldMarshal Viscount Yoshimicha HasegAwa, the most famous militarist in Japan. He had been ill for a fortnight. The Viscount was 75 years of age. MR. C. J. PARKER. (special to "tub pbjsss.") GISBORNE, January 28. Mr C. J. Parker, who died to-day at the age-of 84 years, came to New Zealand over 50 years ago. Aifter following the gold rushes to Gabriel's Gully and elsewhere, and seeing service with the volunteers in the conflicts against the Maoris, he came to Gisborne over 30 years ago, and took up land, being one of the most successful sheepfarmers of this district. He is survived by a large family of nine sons, five daughters, sixty grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom live in the North Island.
