A pest of small black slugs is infesting parts or the district around Levin. A farmer told a ''Chronicle'' representative that he had lost ten acres of gra*s seed through the vermin which had eaten away all the green part of the leaves, leaving nothing but a skeleton of ribs. He knew other cases in winch farmers had suffered similar losses. Mr F. Allen, head gardener at tho AVereroa Training Farm, also reports a s ] uc invasion, and a good ceal or damage in consequence.
