Details of the disaster at Bergamo, where a dam burst, show that the damage and loss of life are greater than at first surmised. The village of Dezzo, two miles from the dam, was entirely destroyed,; only 17 being left out of 400 inhabitants. According to messages from Bergamo, 137 bodies, all unrecognisable, have been recovered from the flood.
