Tho Victorian Cabinet lengthily debated the question of compensation claims respecting the police strike riots, and decided to udboze to tho previous decisions not to recognise liability.
The inquest in connexion with the tragedy at Minnamurra, where Georga Simpson was found with his throat cut, has been adjourned until December lltli.
Mr J. C. Oakes outlined the main, features of the Now South Walea Hospital Bill to a meeting of hospital representatives. He explained that a Commission would be appointed to control all the hospitals. Contributors would bo compulsory, "with subsidies from the Government. The principle of voluntary contributions would still be maintained.
A meeting of tho General Committee of tho Olympic Games Australian Representation Fund lapsed, owing to tha poor attendance. Because of the tardy rosponso to the appeal for funds, it is expected that no more than four representatives will ba sent by Australia.
A septuagenarian farmer, Bronn&n, was shot dead, and his nephew dangerously wounded, in an affray at. Grange, County Sligo, Ireland. A number of arrests have been made.
Mr «T. 0. Maley, Minister of Agriculture in West Australia, announced several further cases of a mystorious disease reported among a herd of cattla at Belmont. There lavo been two deaths.
Dr. J. H. L. Cumpston (Commonwealth Director of Quarantine) has received advices from Forth that the rinderpest outbreak is confined to an area of two square miles. There have been no fresh cases. Rinderpest has been declared a notifiable disease un. der the Stock Diseases Act.
