ILLEGAL RAFFLES.
» (rB3S3 ASSOCIATION TH.EGBAM.) THAMES, December 3. The secretary of a .Roman Catholic bazaar was charged at tho Magistrate's Court with, a breach of the Caming Act in connexion with several raffles. It was stated that although permission had been given by the Department the authorities of tho bazaar gave with each article raffled a gift of greater value than that specified. The defendant pleaded guilty, and the Magistrate ordered the payment of costs, but did not record a conviction, as the case had been brought as a warning.
