VALUELESS CHEQUE. (pBESa ASSOCIATIOK TILBQBAiI.} DVNEDIN, December 3. In the Magistrate's Court to-day, Albert William Grant, a married man, 27 years of age, was charged with obtaining Jrom J. and J. Arthur, Ltd., scod3 valued at £i 3s Cd and £5 10s Cd, by means of a valueless cheque; also with forging a cheque on the National Bank for £lO, by purporting it to be signed M. Campbell; also with obtaining £lO in goods and money from Keddeils, Lid., by means of & cheque similarly signed. In a signed statement, accused said he came from Chrietchusch, and whiW in Dunedin ho consumed a fair amount of liquor, as hp felt unwell. He did not remember signing tho cheques, and had clothing in his possession that he did not remember bringing. Accused pleaded guilty, and tvaa committed for sentence.
