HOKITIKA EXHIBITION.

The British and Intercolonial Exhibition which opens at Hokitika- oil December loth will extend to February 2nd, thus covering the Christmas and New Year holidays. Tie Exhibition authorities are making special provision for the accommodation of visitors in the hotels and private houses for the Exhibition period. The tariff will range from 9s to 16s per day. Arrangements are also being made for the supply of weal 3 and. refreshments in the Exhibition buildings at moderate prices. It is expected there will be a large influx of visitors to the Coast durine; the season of the Exhibition, and intending visitors would do well to write or telegraph, Teply paid, to "Westward Ho," Hokitika, expressing their wishes both as to accommodation and scenio tours. The Exhibiton itself is the most important event in -the history . o£ the West Coast. The occasion has been seized upon to celebrate) the opening of the East and West Coast railway, thus overcoming the mountain barrier between the Eaßt and West Coast, and is also intended to commemorate the sixtieth year of tEe gold rush to Westland, and to the establishment of Provincial Government along / the seaboard.

On the opening day the Ministers of the Crown present will include the Hon. Sir Francis Bell (Acting-Prime the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes (Minister »f Defence), and the Hon. W. Downie Stewart (Minister of Industries). The last-named will officially open the Exhibition on the afternoon of the 15th inst.
