WAIMAIRI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly in eating of the "Waimairi School Committee was held on Monday. Present: Meßsrs T. Holmes (chairman), T. H. B. Roberta, J. H. Reynolds, J. Ulum»ky. J. Hall, and J. Tullett. An apology for absence was received from Mr J. Dalley. The headmaster reported that the average attendance for tho last month had been CS3, and for the quarter ending June 30th 2SI. If tho attendances ior the. wet week ending Hay Hth were omitted, the average for ths quarter would be 286. The number on the roll was 816. The chairman welcomed Jlr J. H. Reynolds, who had been elected to till the vacancy on the committee. The chairman wee authorised to have the drain on the west side of the school grounds attended to. The Municipal Electricity Department wrote stating that it bad been decided to install meters on all switchboards. A letter was reoeived from the local ministers asking for permission to hold classes for religious instruction for twenty-five minutes a week during echool hours. It was unanimously decided not to agTee to th* proposal, but to inform the ministers again that the committer was willing for classes to be held outside school hours. A copy of the agreement between tho Education Board and the Railway Department regarding the overhead bridge and the footpath to Brvndwr station was 'received from the Board. It wr.s decided to invite the inmates of the Rannerdale Home to bo present at the fortnightly euchre parties held in connexion with the school.
