FIRE IN A MINE.

OUTBREAK AT BROKEN HI! L. (BT CABLE—PBBSS ISSOCIATIOIf COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) SYDNEY, July 11. A fire broke out in the central mine at Broken Hill. It is confined to the 400-foot level, but there is every likelihood of it spreading. At first the fire fighters were compelled to come to tiie surface in consequence of the dense smoke. All the available firemen and mine employees are now attacking the flames from the 500-foot level. The fire is still burning. The firemen are fighting the flames in relays owing to the gas. No estimate of the damage done is available, but if the outbreak is not soon controlled there will be severe unemployment. .
