« —> — MEETING OP COMMITTEE. ! i The monthly meeting of the com- ! mitcee of the Methven A. and P. As- j soeiation was held on Monday. Present: Messrs H. Maguinuess (president), T. S. Harrison, C. T. Jessep. James Carr, J. T. Mangin, A. T. Lilley, A, F, Marr, R. N. Elliott, H. 0. Jessep, E. J. Low, Alex. G9ddes, C. Hale, P. S. McDonald, H., Green, and S. Robinson. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Dowling, Bland, Campbell, and A. J. Wilson. Messrs Jessep Bros, stated that they had waited on a firm in Christchurch, who indented cup 3 suitable for presentation by A. and P. Associations, as authorised by the last meeting, and they had promised to send catalogues to come before the next meeting of the committee. Notice was received from the Canterbury A. and P. Association that a meeting of the General Committoe would be held at the Association's rooms to-day, and requesting the attendance of the Association's delegates. - The delegates promised to do their best to attend. The preliminary order paper for the annual conference of the Now Zealand Council of Agriculture was received. Mr A. T. Lilly reported on the meeting of the Canterbury A. and P. Association that he attended in Christchurch, more especially regarding the loading of stock at country railway stations. / It was decided to hold the show on , March 27th, and to notify the Ashburton and Mayfield A. and P. Associations, so that there would be no clashing. < The question of shields was further discussed, and a sample was on view. The idea is to give a shield to each cup winner, to be held by him as a permanent memento. Air T. S. Harrison, a past president of the Association, presented the com mittee with an enlarged photograph of himself, to bo hung on the wall of the Association's room. Nearly all thi past presidents have made a similai presentation. Mr Mr.guinness thanked Mr Harrison for his handsome present, and accepted it on behalf of the Association. Mr R. J. Low presented the Association with an enlarged photograph of the oaten sheaf which obtained first prize at the last stacking competition held under the auspices of the Association last autumn. It was decided that this should be hung in a conspicuous place in the rooms. Several members reported on the steps they were taking to supply Mr Holford with data to enable him to write an article specially dealing with the Methven district. The following subcommittee 'svas appointed to meet Mr Holford on his visit to the district: — Messrs Carr, Low, C. T. Jessep, Morgan, Harrison, and Robinson. The secretary was instructed to get I a quotation for shields and submit it ; to the next meeting--1 It was agreed that a a ploughing match be held next year, and_ that all kindred Associations be notified the Association was willing to fall in with the dates fixed by them. The question of getting the services of a good draught stallion during the coming season was gone into, and the following committee was appointed, with power to act: Messrs J. Campbell, E. A. Bland, E. N. Elliott, A. Geddes, li. J. Low. A. T. Lillev, and C. Hale.
