MEETING OF MASSEURS.

ASSOCIATION FORMED. A fairly well attended meeting of masseurs and in;issouses was held in the Christchurch Hospital Lecture Hall last night, Mr W. T. Woods presiding. The eliairman explained that it was proposed to form a Christchurch .Masseurs' Association. The aims and objects of the proposed Association wore to afford an opportunity to members) of the profession to meet at regular intervals to discuss questions relating to massage, medical and orthopaedic gymnastics, hydro-therapeutics, electrotherapeutics, and other allied subjects, and to advance their knowledge by lectures to be provided by members of the medical profession and others. H© further explained that amongst the aims and objects of the Association were the promotion and safeguarding of the interests of members and the obtaining of the full recognition and support of the medical fraternity. It w;is also aimed at affiliating with similar associations in Auckland, Wellington, and jOunedin to form a New Zealand Association njid to raise the status of tiie masseur. Alter a brief discussion of the rules, as submitted by a special committee set up for the purpose, they were adopted. A letter was received from the Dnnedin Masseurs' Association asking tiiat the first conference of the Zealand Association be held in Dunedin. It was decided to reply stating that in the Christchurch Association's opinion the first New Zealand conference should be held in Wellington, as was at first suggested. It was decided to forward to all the medical practitioners in Canterbury alist of the names of members of the Association, as soon as the body had been established on a sufficiently sound basis.
