COUNTY COUNCILS.
SPRINGS. j The monthly meeting of the Spring* County Council was held at Springston on Thursday. Present—Crs. A. Thompson (chairman), E. Yaxr,-C. Wolfe, John Stalker, J. H„ Williams, J. S. Simpson, and the clerk, Mr H. Neale. The Council agreed to take over the Springs Biding war memorial and ground. A complaint was received that certain stock had been wandering on the road near the railway line at Greenpark. The chairman reported on an interview with Mr R. W. McVilly, General Manager of New Zealand Railways. Favourable consideration was given in regard to Birdling's Flat, but olher matters received very little attention. Several matters in connexion with repairs to roads, etc, were ordered to be attended to as early as possible. Or. J. .Stalker, stated that he did not intend to stand fori re-election, but moved a recommendation to the incoming Council that a fee of 10a be paid to councillors for attendance'at meetings.
