John Pennington, who for many years was engaged in the Union Company's Greyniouth-fasmania service. MR S. JACOBS. (special, to "tke press.") DUaZUCn. April 27 The death occurred yesterday of Mr S. Jacobs, aged 75 years, lie was born in London and came to IKinedin nitjeight years ago from. Melbourne, lie was at the Danstan diggings for some time but about two years after arrival lie opened a fancy goods business and took over the premises now known as Jacobs's, which he carried on unti five rears ago, when he retired, and his son took over his tobacconist business He was a familiar and respected figure in the citv. .Mr Jacobs was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Jio E.G., and at one time took a very active interest in athletics He was the oldest member of the Fofb-ury Paik Trotting Olub.
