The owners emphatically rejected the application, and suggested that the miners should accept the eight-hour day as the better way of overcoming the wages difficulty. The executive declined to discuss this, but proposed a sis-hour day. TRADES DISPUTE ACT. (Received April 27th. 8.40 p.m.) LONDON, April 26. Mr G. H. Hurst, in the House of Commons, drew attention to Lord Colerid ! ge's recent trade union judgment, and asked the Government to consider the repeal of the Trades Dispute Act, 1906, and the amendment of other Laws relating to trade unions. Mr Stanley Baldwin said the suggestions would be considered. Mr J. Seaton pointed out that the union concerned was not responsible as a governing body. The lawsuit arose from aji action taken by a branoh against the executive's wishes. MAITLAND DISPUTE. (Received April 27th, 11.10 p.m.) SYD-NEY, April 27. After a lengthy discussion, the conference of coalminers and owners adjourned until Wednesday next, without reaching a decision.
