New Plymouth.—The municipal elections resulted in the return of five old councillors, one candidate who was associated with them on the ticket, and two, including Mr S. G. Smith, M.P., who were included in the Citizons' Committee ticket. The Labour candidates were badly beaten. The election is an emphatic win for the Mayor (Mr E. E. Wilson), who was unopposed. The Saturday half-holiday was retained by a substantial majority. Otaki.—Mr J. P. Brandon was elected Mayor. Wellington. —The .election of the City Council resulted in the return of Messrs G. Mitchell, W. J. Gaudin, H. D. Bennett, W. H. Bennett, M. Luckie, T. Forsyth, B. G. Burn, J. Burn, E. Meadowcroft, S. H. Chapman, J. Ashton, W. J. Thompson, A. L. Montith, A. W. Parton, Mrs A. McVlcar. There were thirty-five candidates. Messrs Chapman and Monteith were the onlyLabour candidates elected. The following wero elected to the Harbour Board:—Messrs G. Mitchell, H. D. Bennett, C. J. Norwood and Capt. Post. For the Hospital Board, the following wero returned: —The Rev. H. van. Staveren, Mrs MoVicary the Rev. J. K. Elliott, Messrs Castle, C. M. Luke, Shirtcliffe, Will Appleton, Petherick, Hornblow, Campbell, Vine, Butler, Chapman and Cole. Mr Chapman was the only Labour candidate elected. Mr Glover and Mrs Snow, old members, were defeated. The new members are Messrs Shirtcliffe, Appleton, Campbell and Cole.

Blenheim. —By a small majority, Saturday was retained as the half-holi-day. Mr J. J. Corry, for many years chairman of the Hospital Board, was dofeated for a seat on the Board. Gore.—Mayoralty: D. L. Poppelwell 645, David McDougall (retiring Mayor) 606.

Invercargill. —The half-holiday poll resulted in favour of Wednesday (3871 votes) against Saturday (2443 votes). Tho reversion to Wednesday was largoly influenced by the statemont that Saturday closing had resulted in the loss of £9OOO a week to shopkeepers. For tho Council the official Labour candidates were defeated. The poll was headed by Mr I. Glass and Mr H. J. Farrant, who unsuccessfully contested Invercargill at the general election as the Liberal-Labour candidate.

ROUT OF LABOUR IN WELLINGTON. (special to "thb pbess. )~ WELLINGTON, April 27. Tho city elections have resulted in the defeat of all the Labour candidates except two —Mr Chapman, who managed to secure tenth place, and Mr A. L. Monteith, who was thirteenth on tho list. The Civic League's ticket wus almost completely successful, only two of their candidates failing to get a place. Ail the Labour candidates for tho Harbour Board were defoated by the citizens' nominess, who received large majorities. For the Hospital Board all but ouo of the citizens' ticket are likely to be elected. The Bev. H. Van Stavoren, the Jewish Kabbi, headed the poll with 14,512 votes to his credit.
