CHRISTCHURCH HUNT CLUB.

The opening meet for the 1923_ season of the Chrisichurch Hunt Club was held on Tuesday last at the k:nneU, Aylesbury. Although the day wr3 wet «nd scent patchy, the rain was w-elcomed by everyone, as fecdl is very ■scarce for the stock this winter, owing to dry weather and blight, etc. The-, hounds were looking in forward condition, owing to p enty of road work and attention from their* huntsman, and some promising young horses were seen out as well an the olebr ones, Surprise, Bill, Forrard, and Monowai looking very well. Three good runs were obtained', and the hounds, although very keen, worked out the line well against a puzzling scent, an 3 were rewarded with two kills. The club wishes to th<ink Jleas:e Sowden, Me?, and Laeey, whose country, was at the disposal of the, hunt. Those hunting were:—-Mr? J. H. Grigg on Forrard Mrs Selby on a chestnut, the master (D. W. Western*) on Surprise, huntsman (J. H. Sclbv) on Monowai, acting whip (Gilbert Grigg) 'on The Turk and a Oannie Chic] gelding, Messrs J. H. Grigg (deputy master) on Bill, Arthur Grigg on Ballyjaggit andi Sha.rpspur, A. Ward Smith on Paidon, J. Woodhouse on Martial, M. H. O'Rorke on Norford, C. Selby on Harkaway, Tahu Knodes on Nukiirau, and sever-1 young sportfmen or. cobs and ponies. Following the hunt by motor-car wero Mrs Derrick Weitenra, Mis* O'Rorke and Mr Mrs A. E. G. Rhodes, Mi* Hulton, Lady Patricia Blackwood and a friend, and several other cars. The card published for April, May, and Juno has been altered, and should now read: Tuesday, May Ist—Mr Woodhcuse's, Charine Cross. Saturday, May sth—Cross roads, Homeby, Ki-wec Tuesday, Mav Bth—Krwo Hotel. Saturday, Mav 19th—Mr Stewart's, Nonwood. . " Saturday, May 26th—Mr Bedford's co:"ner, Kirwee. Saturday, June 2nd—Camla, Dunsandel. All meets at 11 a.m. sharp. ■
