MEETING OF N.Z. COUNCIL. (press association telegram..) WELLINGTON, April JC. At a. meeting of tho New Zealand Council of the Amateur Athletic Association, it was stated that the receipts cf the WeU lington championship meeting were £555, and the expenditure £199. The New Zea-i land championship receipts were £lOl, ani the expenditure £235. Wellington's tontrioutjoiL i-o Uie Americans' tour was £762. The Council approved of the barring of military defaulters. The application of P.. B. Gallagher (Omakau) for- reinstatement was granted, and that of T. J. O'Cailagham (Wellington) was declined. The Harrier Clubs stated that thov were prepared- to finance four men to take part in the Australian- cross-oountry champion-i ship, provided the team was reduced to six instead of eight, as at present, the first foun to count instead of six. Representation is to be made to Australia on the subject. Considerable discussion took place regarding the amusement tax, which was penalising sports gatherings. The tax was deicrihed as a scandalous one. It v,-aa decided that immediate action should ha taken with a view to sending representatives to the Olympic Games.
