YOUNG PEOPLE'S SOCIETY.

The Spreydon .Presbyterian Young People's Society held its' first debate of the season ori Saturday evening. C. A. Comber occupied the chair, andi there was a good attendance of .members. The subject was tho familiar one of "Town versus Country," as to. which tended to produce the better citizen from social, moral and intellectual viewpoints. The leaders were Messrs A. Edwards and F. Turnpenny, for town and country respectively, and their seconders were Mr Gouriay and Miss E. Cole. The judge (Mr J. Voss) gave the members valuable hints in regard to the headings under which a debate should he adjudicated. He traversed the argument, delivery,' manner, etc., of the various speakers, and gave his decision in favour, of the country side. It was announced that the Rev. B. Kilioy would speak next Saturday evening on "Life in a British. "University!"
