PICNICS.
P. GRAHAM AND SON. On Saturday the employees of • Messrs P. Graham and Son held their annual. picnic at Waikuku Beach, about two hundred peopie being conveyed there by motors. Married > Women's Race—Mrs Blakely 1, Mrs Bowden 2, Mrs Serine S. Cigarette Race—W. Russell 1, J. Reid 2. Old Men's Race—J. Steele 1, D. Armstrong (Ngahere) 2. Apprentices' Ra«e—V. H. J. Hean 1, P. Saunders 2, R. Edwards 8. Women's Nail-driving Competition—Mrs Bowden 1, Mrs Munro 2. Men's Three-legged Race—A. Laing and R. Edwards 1. Foremen's Race—F. Luce 1, W. 3. Calvert 2. Skipping Competition—Miss Dixon 1, Miss Russell 2. Consolation Race (men)—W. Cummings 1, H. Wright 2. Consolation Race (women)— Miss Nankivell 1. The winning tu-r-of-war team challenged the winning team irom the D.I.C. and won. At the conclusion of the sports, Mr Jf. Graham presented the prizes, after which three hearty cheers were given for the firm.
LOCO. WORKSHOPS. The most enjoyable and successful picnic yet held hy the employees of ihe locomotive workshops took place at Kafapoi Park on Saturday. There was an attendance of between 900 and 1000 members , and their friends. Very keen interest was taken in the sports, and some very close finishes w«re witnessed. Results:— Workshops Handicap—J. Single' Women's Race—Miss Hyde 1, Miss F. Watts 2, Mi3s E. Watts 8, Miss Barnes 4. Three-legged Race—Miss Turton and W. Overend. Old Men's Race—H. Grammar 1, G. Falgar 2, W. Giblet 3. Married Men's Race—J. Stephens 1, A. Cross 2, W. Williams 3. Committee Men's Race—H. Hessey 1, W. Overend 2, A. Turner 3. Baby Show, 12 months and under (boys) —Mrs Jarard 1, Mrs McQuinn 2: (girls)— Mrs Flintoff 1, Mrs Grade 2. Six months and under (pirl<o—Mrs Crew 1, Mrs Dallison 2; (bovs) —Mrs Weyton 1, Mrs A. E. Srrith 2. The special prire for workshops member presented bv Mrs Palmer was awarded to Mrs Colquhoun's baby. Special prizes for Highland dancing, presented bv Mr W. Tijffen, were awarded to Kfi'sßea Marjorie Nelligan and W. Schimanskj. A tov and ba? of streets were, (riven to each child im*evt. and numerous races were j held for the juniors. ■ •
