Darbishiro (Liberal, Westbury, "Wilts.) enquired whether Sir William JoynsonHicks, Parliamentary Secretary for Overseas. Trade, would consider tho abandonment of the British Empire Exhibition with a view to limiting the guarantors' probable losses. Sir William Joynson-Hicks replied in the negative. He saw'Sio reason to anticipate an ultimatte loss, while the abandonment of the exhibition would inevitably involve immediate heavy losses. FREIGHT CONCESSIONS. (Received February 28th, 8.0 p.m.) LONDON, February 27. The shipping companies have agreed to grant a concession of 50 per cent, on freights, both outward and homeward, ou all exhibits sent to the British Empire Exhibition, if not intended for sale.
