COUNTY TO BOROUGH.
WAIMAIRI AREAS JOIN RICCARTON. A poll of Waimairi ratepayers in the Riccarton and Middleton Ridings was taken yesterday on a proposal to inciude certain portions of the Waimajri county in the borough of Riccarton. Tlio areas concerned were (1) That portion ofv the Riccarton ridui" enclosed by parts of Rata street, Straven road, Riccarton road and Kauri road, and (2) portion of the Riccarton riding west of Deans's Bush and east of Clyde road, and portion of the Middleton riding between Cutler's road and Wainui street ana the property facing Eustou street. In No. 1 area the voting was 1 6 for amalgamation, 3 against, and 1 informal. The voting in No. 2 area was 50 for amalgamation, 39 against, and 3 informal. The proposal to amalgamate was therefore carried, in both areas.
