THE WEATHER.

MORE HEAVY RjUN. Heavy rain set in from the southwest early yesterday morning, and continued at intervals throughout the morning and, part of the afternoon. One of the results was to postpone the continuation of the Plunket Shield match, Canterbury v. Wellington, until after 4 o'clock. Over half an inch fell altogether, which gives an idea of the severity of the showers while they lasted. The rainfall for February, usually a dry month, was 2.086 in., and the total for the present year is now 7.49 in., making tie season one of the wettest on record. Furtner heavy rain fell at Methven yesterday morning, 76 points being recorded at 9 o'clock, bringing harvesting. to a standstill. As the rain was of a torrential nature, stooks are well soaked. Good progress had been made with threshing on Monday and Tuesday, but the grain threshed on Monday was not in good condition, being very cold and damp, and doubtless some of it will be rejected when it comes to be delivered to millers., Heavy showers of rain fell at Ashduring the early hours of yesterday morning, and showers of hail' and rain fell at intervals during the day. .
