Some Wangamri residents, states an exchange, have been wondering why, during the past few months, such large numbers of poultry have been sent in to Wanganui for sale at auction. The reason is not very difficult to understand. It is a well-known fact -that when eggs were very dear, hundreds of people decided to keep a few fowls in their backyards. the reverse has happened, and eggs are cheap; in fact, the price is no better in 'Wanganui, where feed is dearer, than it is in Canterbury, where grain is cheaper. People now find that it is cheauer to get rid of the fowls and place' them in the auction mart and buy what eggs they require.
