FALSE DECLARATION.
(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, November 10. In the Magistrate's Court a young widow named E. M. Walton, was fined £SO for making a false Customs declaration in respect of a piano imported from England. She declared that the cases contained only household goods, not exceeding £IOO in value and had been in use twelve months. The Collector of Customs said the piano; was' hew. It had been packed in London,, and was valued at £1057 Tho defence was that the defendant was informed that household effects were admitted free, bo she' paid no particular attention to the declaration.
